Testimonials

This is what some of the parents of Candlenut students have to say about our school:

"After spending six months rather unsucessfully homeschooling my daughter (10 years) on a rural property, I feel so deeply satisfied with the education she is receiving at Candlenut.  Not only is it physically, emotionally and mentally nuturing her, it supports us as a whole family within a beautiful community in the Kuranda/Cairns region.  It is well worth our commuting effort." -- Andrea

"What made us look at Rudolf Steiner Education was a similar recommendation to what is written here. We were told of educational learning that stimulates the childs mind, heart and hands.

We needed to solve our son's despair and lost feeling in a State School in Cairns. He often had headaches which we traced to a degree of Dyslexia. We enrolled our son at eight years in the Stratford campus of Rudolf Steiner, which has now become the Kuranda campus.  Any issues disappeared and my son has thrived ever since.

My simple joy is seeing both my children feeling enthusiastic about school.  I did not remember any feelings of school other than a Monday to Friday grind.  My children are part of a school village, a community of children and adults that all elect to input because that is what evokes the pleasure for our children's young minds.  To encourage the power of our children's imaginations and make their studies interrelated and interwoven with the mind, heart and hands. No less academic, rather more demonstration through multiple senses and awareness points.

I am sure that the size of the school means attention is applied much more accurately than can be done elsewhere.  I like that my child's care is so well adjusted.

At 12 years old, my son will soon move to a state school which he will do well at because his confidence and well being have been supported so well in the Steiner system.  We look forward to the opening of years 8 to 12 at the Kuranda Campus so he can return to a great school when possible." -- C & A

"There were not a lot of satisfactory choices of private schools for us in Cairns. We wanted something more than a state school and a Christian education was totally out of the question. We were hesitant about the Steiner school and had quite a number of misconceptions about it. After a lot of research and also a few visits to the Candlenut School we decided to give it a try. We found that they didn't rush kids into competition and adulthood, but rather encourage self confidence and a love of learning. Our son loves going, he's made a lot of new friends and his teacher is warm and caring. We don't feel we could have made a better choice." -- P & M

"As a founding parent of Candlenut Steiner school and having been involved with Steiner education for 16 years I can only bestow high praise on the school for the education that it has provided for my daughters (and myself) over the last 8 years. Two have moved on to mainstream high school where they easily assimilated into mainstream education and have achieved good all round results.

They are self motivated, creative thinkers who are thoughtful caring individuals. The schools growth in the last year has been inspirational and one only has to visit the school on its new land to feel the loving, caring & creative community spirit that has become one of Candlenut Steiner Schools finest attributes." -- Alison
